I asked a few people in the canteen on Tuesday what they thought of the current logo. Their comments were:
dull
passive
not dynamic
colour makes it seem insignificant
boring
doesn't relate to Farnham

About our researches of logos
Hello Everyone,
Hsuan, Chao-Han , Hsien-Ying and I did some researches regarding school logos today.
We collected logos of "University of London" and "University of the Arts London" from the school's websites. Those university have several colleges as UCCA has. We also collected other art and design school's logos as a reference. We think it might be a good idea to see what are different from our school logo and think about a new logo for UCCA at Farnham.
After we collected, we found our former school logos. we will post all information tonight or tomorrow. We also made powerpoint slides as a visual aid for our presentation.
It seems that each college in university has an original colour for logo and put a university name with a college name. In addition, each college in University of London has totally different style.
Please let us know what you think.

Farnham's pictures
Hello everyone:

I am just here to post some pictures of Farnham and our school. I think Farham is a lovely town and I believe our college is also vey well.
In my opinion, Farnham is a great place for overseas students to stay. Because it is a quite safe and convenient place. However, we could make a logo or brand for our college, I think it is a good idea to make the students in our college to be more consolidated. In addition, it could also make us more popular.
First impressions of Farnham
Hi everyone
Just to add my first impressions to the list:
Lots of artworks - the sculpture park, the Crafts study centre, craft shops in the town
Contrast between the modern College building and the quaint old fashioned town
The difficulty of finding my way round the College to start with - it's like a maze
See you all tomorrow

Deciding what to produce
Image:
Chao-han had the idea for a collage representing Farnham's public sanitation which would collate images and text on any public lavatory whether this be in Starbucks or in the local park.
Brand:
We noticed that our college doesn't really seem to have an individual logo/brand, it is rather grouped with the other UCCA colleges with one 'Umbrella' Logo. Also given that our groups experiences and first impressions of Farnham are so varied we decided that creating an individual logo for the college that was Farnham specific but incorporated aspects of the general UCCA logo.
Promotional Writing:
This could be combined with our image idea, which after all is stated in the brief to be for a magazine, where you very rarely get an image without text or vice-versa.
Object:
We couldn't really think of any ideas for this, but we're open to suggestions. Again we kind of ran into the same problem that our collective first impressions of Farnham were vastly different.
